How to Look After Your Skin in Your 30s!
Turning 30 is so wild, I truly feel turning 30 is an incredibly empowering age, as you grow in confidence, develop a better and stronger sense of self and overall it can be a nice age as your start to feel more settled, whether that is in career and family. You kind of drop the baggage that 20's have, like caring what other's think and the little things that once bothered you won't anymore!
But I think a challenge we may find ourselves in reaching 30, is the gradual ageing process, which lets face it is a beautiful thing but can also feel disheartening at times. You may notice your skin losing elasticity, more sun spots, deeper lines and wrinkles and you may still getting random breakouts and a more dull/tired appearance.
Here are some quick tips to help you look and feel your best as you hit the big Three O!
1- Supplement:
I highly recommend seeing a naturopath and understanding the best supplements to take for your body and skin. Taking a collagen supplement is particularly worthwhile when you hit 30 because your body's collagen stores start to dwindle and decrease so taking a collagen supplement really helps keep them in check and in-turn helps with your skin's overall appearance, nail and hair growth.
2- Moisturise:
DRY SKIN= DEEPER WRINKLES
Always keep that in mind, having dry skin which commonly happens once you hit 30 is a surefire way to have dull looking skin that also appears more aged and tired, but also having dry skin can also make wrinkles appear deeper. So apply a lightweight moisturiser in the morning and in the evening to keep your skin hydrated and moist. This will ensure that your skin is supple, youthful and glowly.
3- Don't Skip Suncreen!
This is not the time in your life where you want to get a tan on your face, I repeat this is not the time you want to get a tan on your face! Sun exposure on your skin dries out the skin, increasing pigmentation, sun spots, deepens wrinkles and also dries out your skin! So ensure you are wearing sunscreen under your moisturiser everyday and also wear a hat if your under the sun, this will help keep your skin youthful and glowly for years to come!
4- Use Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic Acid holds x1000 times its weight in water and if you have noticed a common theme, is that dry skin is what we are trying to avoid! Hyaluronic Acid delivers intense moisture and hydration straight to the skin, which keeps your skin plump and glowy. Hyaluronic Acid is best used when followed up with a moisturiser this helps lock in moisture in the skin.
5- Lifestyle
Above all, your lifestyle has a massive role in looking after your skin and preserving the longevity of your plump and youthful skin. Exercising, drinking enough water, eating wholesome foods, avoiding smoking and alcohol are important steps to looking after your skin at any age but is particularly important when you do hit 30!
