Here is what Eman had to say about our questions regarding skin health, diet and supplements!
2. What foods are best for skin health?
Your diet has a huge impact on your skin. The right foods slow down the ageing process & make your skin look good & glowing from the inside out. Unfortunately, even if you use the best skin care or how much you use they won’t work on their own. You have to eat well.
Here are the top 10 foods that I highly recommend:
Salmon: It’s a fatty fish that is excellent for healthy skin. It’s a rich source of omega fatty acids which is essential for your skin. It also has vitamin E which protects your skin from skin damage from free radicals.
Walnuts: Are amazing source of essential fatty acids which are fats that are body cannot produce. It has high amounts of omega 3 & 6, & small amounts of zinc, selenium, Vitamin E & Vitamin c which promote healthy skin.
Avocado: Are high in healthy fats & Vitamin E that help your skin look moisturised & glowing.
Flaxseeds: Are a great source of Omega 3 fatty acids which are good for your skin health.
Olive oil: Is rich in Vitamin E & is essential for protecting your skin against damage this will keep your skin moist & healthy.
Water: Is one of the most important elements for healthy skin. It hydrates your skin & removes toxins from the body.
Bone Broth: Is a good source of collagen which has an important role in the skins elasticity.
Berries: Are a high source of antioxidants & can protect skin cells & prevent early ageing.
Green Tea: A powerful herb that is high in antioxidants . It contains a compound called Catechins which helps protect your skin against damage & reduces redness.
Dark Leafy greens: Are full of nutrients like A, C & E , beta carotene & chlorophyll which are essential for healthy skin.
3. Does supplementing our diet really help and what supplements are best for our skin?
Unfortunately, not everyone has the time to ensure they consume all these essential nutrients for healthy skin on a daily basis in that case oral & topical supplements have become a healthy substitute.
Here are essential supplements that I will recommend for improving skin integrity: Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin D, Vitamin A, collagen, fatty acids, selenium & zinc.
The Takeaway!
Food really has an incredible way of healing, fulfilling and sustaining our bodies, skin and mind. Eating the right food certainly nourish not only our bodies but also our skin, it is like that saying what you eat in private will show in public. I am not talking about weight here, I am talking about skin, nourishing your body with healthy foods will show on your skin, pairing a healthy diet with a fantastic skincare regime and you have yourself a dynamite combo!
